About Me I'm Lord Vlad, sometimes called DarkLord, sometimes called Vlad. You can choose what tickles your fancy. It's a bit of a mood thing. In my brighter moments I'm Lord Vlad. In my Darker moments, well... Choose Wisely!
Music I'm rather fond of Metallica. It has a medieval beat and driving bass, which appeals to me as a bass player. I play in a band which can be heard in bars in the Southeastern Pa area.
Books The Sword of Truth novels by Terry Goodkind are attractive if one likes raging women dressed in red leather. Although frankly most leather looks (and smells) good.
Likes Swords and bass guitars with attitude. Helms and Bows with horns. Creative Leather armor. An occasional brew.
Hobbies Knife throwing, SCA fighting, Photography, Bass player, Archery.
Vices Women that can wear creative leather armor.
Virtues I maintain a large quantity of creative leather armor.
Heroes In a good mood - Lord Vlad. In the event he is not available, DarkLord.

    Doom gets a new Home!

Saturday, June 28, 2008, 10:51 AM EST [General]

Two in fact!  My favorite sword Doom has received two new scabbards made by Russ at tritonworks.com.  I like the saber because its shape gives it personality.  However the one-size-fits-all scabbard I was using tended to hide the shape, losing that personality in the process.

Then I stumbled across Tritonworks and contacted Russ to solve the problem.  It took a while, since there is a year-long waiting list to begin with, but he came through before faire season starts in the Northeast.

He designed a scabbard to display the blade at faire and a more standard scabbard to protect the blade from the elements.

Anyone buying a scabbard from Tritonworks should consider getting the ruggedized shipping option.  The case it comes in will make it easy to ship your sword in the future and is well worth the price.

Now if faire would only start!

Wicked Faire is an Intriguing Concept

Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 09:44 PM EST [General]

The Wicked Faire in Edison, NJ strikes me as a great idea.  An indoor themed ren faire during the colder months is a good way to keep the leather and swords oiled, the vendors with some cash flow, and meet people in an intriguing entertainment experience.  I have some armor being made that is supposed to be completed in the next week but I'm not sure it will arrive by the Feb 8th & 9th dates.

M'lord, were you at Celtic Fling this weekend? I saw a armour-clad fellow walking about, and almost went up to ask if it might be you....
